System Development is the actual creation and coding of the system.
Major Activities
In this phase of production, all the design information in the System Design Document is translated into working software. The user interface, reports and the database are created according to the specifications in the Design Document. On line help and user documentation are created. During development, testing is done on individual units of the system. As the final part of development, the development staff tests the entire system.
Major Milestones
The major milestones of the Development phase are:
- Start;
- Individual Unit Testing;
- System Testing;
- Completion of help systems; and
- Completion of documentation.
Deliverables
The deliverables of the Development phase are the documentation, help systems, executables, and source code.
